The Gunnison Combined (District and County) Courts are part of the Seventh Judicial District and are located in Gunnison, Colorado. Gunnison is the home of Western State College and offers many recreational opportunities in the surrounding mountains. Crested Butte and the Crested Butte ski area are approximately 40 miles north of Gunnison. The court employs a district judge, a part-time county judge, the clerk of court, four deputy clerks, a court reporter, three probation officers and a probation support services employee. Other 7th JD personnel travel to Gunnison to provide services.
The court hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are open during the lunch hour.
The court supplies forms free or for a minimal fee. There are different kinds of pamphlets that are available to assist court users and the general public on the different functions of the court. Forms may also be obtained from the Judicial Department web site.
When entering Gunnison from the east on Highway 50, turn north on Taylor street and go one block. Coming from the west on Highway 50, stay on Highway 50 until you hit Iowa St and go north one block.

District courts hear civil cases in any amount, as well as domestic relations, criminal, juvenile, probate, and mental health cases. District court decisions may be appealed to the Colorado Court of Appeals (in some cases directly to the Colorado Supreme Court).
