The Gunnison Combined (District and County) Courts are part of the Seventh Judical District and are located in Gunnison, Colorado. Gunnison is the home of Western State College and offers many recreational opportunities in the surrounding mountains. Crested Butte and the Crested Butte ski area are approximately 40 miles north of Gunnison. During the construction of the New Gunnison County Courthouse and effective December 23, 2013 the address of the Courts and Probation Offices is 108 E. Georgia Street. The courtrooms will be located at 117 N. Iowa Street in Gunnison in Webster Hall. The court employs a district judge, a part-time county judge, the clerk of court, four deputy clerks, a court reporter, three probation officers and a probation support services employee. The 7th Judicial District’s Family Court Facilitator is also located in Gunnison. Other 7th JD personnel travel to Gunnison to provide services.
The court hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are open during the lunch hour.
The court supplies forms free or for a minimal fee. There are different kinds of pamphlets that are available to assist court users and the general public on the different functions of the court. Forms may also be obtained from the Judicial Department web site.
When entering Gunnison from the east, you will be on US Highway 50 which turns into Tomichi Avenue. Turn right on Iowa Street and the courtrooms are in Webster Hall, one block off Tomichi. The court and probation offices are one more block north on Georgia Street between Iowa and Main (HWY 135).
When traveling to Gunnison from the north, you will be on Highway 135, which turns into Main Street. Turn left Main and Georgia Street. Parking is plentiful and free around the locations. The courtroom are one block south on Iowa in Webster Hall.
