The Gunnison Combined (District and County) Courts are part of the Seventh Judical District and are located in Gunnison, Colorado. Gunnison is the home of Western State College and offers many recreational opportunities in the surrounding mountains. Crested Butte and the Crested Butte ski area are approximately 40 miles north of Gunnison. The address of the Gunnison County Courthouse is 200 East Virginia Ave. The court clerk's office and courtrooms are located on the second floor along with the probation office and the community service office. The court employs a district judge, a part-time county judge, a court reporter, the clerk of court, four deputy clerks, a probation officer and an alternative service coordinator and secretary.
The court hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and until 3:00 on Friday. We are open during the lunch hour.
The court supplies forms free or for a minimal fee. There are different kinds of pamphlets that are available to assist court users and the general public on the different functions of the court. Forms may also be obtained from the Judicial Department web site.
When entering Gunnison from the east, you will be on US Highway 50 which turns into Tomichi Avenue. Turn right on Iowa Street and the courthouse is a two-story cream colored building, one block off Tomichi.
When traveling to Gunnison from the north, you will be on Highway 135, which turns into Main Street. Turn left at the stoplight at Main and Virginia. The courthouse is a two-story, cream colored building, one block off Main.
Parking is plentiful and free around the courthouse.
